We offer a variety of supplemental educational programs each year at Mountain Pathways.
Though these vary based on funding and availability of personnel, typical offerings include Music, Yoga or Foreign Language classes that meet weekly or sometimes more often. We have had professors come in from Appalachian State to teach special science courses, and we have also offered specific reading or math services as needs arise. We are always interested in expanding these offerings, and encourage parents to offer their skills on an academic or extracurricular level whenever possible.
The Montessori curriculum places a heavy focus on having students “Go Out” into their world. Primary students take field trips twice a year, and our older children will be going on a major trip this year as well. Past journeys have seen the 9-12ers heading to the Georgia coast, as well as spending time hiking the Appalachian Trail. Field trips to Appalachian Ski Mountain and Merlefest are usually student favorites.
